In this chart, the person asking the question is represented by the ascendant. Capricorn is rising and Saturn is the ruler of Capricorn. Saturn naturally represents anxiety and fear. This gives us an apt description of the mental state of the consultant. Saturn is retrograde, which can indicate two things. One, that he is looking back at what happened, two, that he might need to retrace his steps. Any separating aspect to Saturn will show something in the past that happened before the card was lost. Here we notice that Mercury, in the 5th house, separates from Saturn by trine. Mercury rules communication of any sort, and the 5th house has to do with children and entertainment. Children doesn’t make much sense in the context of the question, but a party falls under the entertainment category. I judged that he lost the credit card because he was distracted communicating to people, either playing on his phone, as he was leaving for the party, or at the party.
At this point, the consultant admitted that he often kept his credit card in his pocket with his phone. The case of his phone has protruding corners, and whenever he would take his phone out of his pocket (which was often), sometimes the card would slip out of his pocket too.
Any moveable possession is represented by the second house. Pisces is rising on the cusp, and Jupiter rules the sign. Jupiter has natural association with wealth, which make it an apt significator for a credit card. There is a nice aspect to the Sun, which usually brings light to things, but the Sun being in a cadent house will show obstacles, or a theme of something being hidden.
Finally, the Moon should always be looked at, as she is always a general significator for missing things and people. As a note, she can usually represent three things in a chart: she can represent the consultant, the things or person inquired about, or the timing of events (and sometimes she can represent all three!).
Here the Moon’s last aspect was to Venus in the 7th. The 7th house represents other people it begs the question if someone else was not involved with the loss of the card. However, any theft can be ruled out as Venus is not afflicted and the overall chart is not negative.
After looking at what could have happened, we should look at the prospect of recovery. Jupiter, the card, is in its own sign, showing the card is ‘at home’, where it’s supposed to be, or among the consultant’s possessions. It’s also retrograde, moving backwards, and conjunct the cusp of the 2nd house, a very strong testimony for recovery.
The Sun, shedding lights on things, is sending a trine to the cusp of the 2nd house. But being in a cadent house gives us a sign that the search needs to be more thorough.
Neither the Moon nor Saturn have an aspect to Jupiter, but the Moon as a general significator for missing things is angular (showing the card to be close) and is applying to a conjunction to Saturn, the consultant. Saturn is itself retrograde, meaning that both the Moon (the card) and Saturn (the consultant) are moving towards each other, which bodes well for a sudden recovery.
The only issue I see here is that before the aspect between the Moon and Saturn perfects, the Moon will be opposed to Mars.
All of this indicated to me that the card was close, recoverable, and not stolen or compromised. If we could identify what Mars is in the chart, we’d have further clues on what could block that reunion between our consultant and his card.
The consultant was going to stop his search as it was night time and it was storming, but I urged him to search again immediately following my insights on the location.
To find clues on the location of the card, we need to looks at the main significators (here the Moon, the 2nd house and its lord Jupiter), along with the 4th house and its ruler, showing the ‘quality of the ground’ where the card is laid.
Jupiter, the cusp of the 2nd and Venus the lord of the 4th, are all in water signs indicating water or moisture. That with the cusp of the 4th in an earth sign, I judged the card was on the ground somewhere damp or wet. It was raining outside and sounded logical.
Because the Moon and Jupiter were both at the beginning of their signs, I judged the card would be close to a wall or a partition.
Looking back at the Moon’s opposition to Mars, I judged that something red, made of metal or iron could be blocking the view. Because Mars ruled the 3rd house, I judged the card had potentially fallen somewhere in or near a car. The consultant immediately confirmed that the car was red.
With those insights in mind, he went back to the car to look again. He looked under and around the car but didn’t find it. He then opened the door where he sat, and on the black, wet, mat on the floor of the car, against the partition under the seat was his credit card. It was rather difficult to see it as both the mat and the card were black, not even mentioning it was night time. Only by palming the whole mat did he feel it.
The card was found at 9:32pm. At that time, the cusp of the 2nd house had passed over Jupiter, and was in an exact (partile) trine to the horary Sun. A brilliant image to showing the Sun revealing the location of the card (2nd house).
Horary example:
A missing credit card
To illustrate how horary works, allow to share an example from my personal files.
The consultant had been shopping in different places all day long. Towards the end of the day, he went to a family gathering and thought he had taken his credit card with him so he could add one last stop how the family party to get some groceries. As the party ended, he suddenly noticed that his credit card was nowhere to be found. He was almost certain he still had his card with him before leaving to see his family, but looking back at his day, he just wasn’t sure of anything anymore. He looked through his personal effects, where he had partied, but nothing. He dawned on him that he could potentially have lost it anywhere during his peregrination and thought about calling the bank to blocking the card. Before doing so, he came to me with the question ‘Where is my credit card?’.
